ANZAC DAY - April 25
During the 1920s ANZAC Day became established as a national day of commemoration for the 60,000 Australians who had died during the war.
Anyone observing the memorial service today would have been presented with a deafening silence. It was truly overwhelming to see so many people gathered to pay their respects to those that fought to preserve our country and way of life.
The ANZACs were well known for their courage, camaraderie and compassion. From the first steps onto the battlefield to the sharing of food between the opposing nations, they are to be remembered and honoured always.
This year during the dawn service, the Western Front were also honoured. They had once promised to eternally honour the memory of those who fought during this war and this is something that they have adhered to. For that we say, Merci!
So now in my own metal way, I say Hails! to the men and women who once fought for and to those who continue to fight for this beautiful land we know as Australia.
To the families and friends of those lost, I pay my respects.
To those going out to the RSL's today, please remember, today is not about going out to get pissed and gamble, it is about respecting those that fought and died for this country. Without whom, you would not be here today living in such a wonderful, free country.
