Review:
This Sydney based Power Metal band is as good live as they are on their EP. The singer projects a hell of a lot of power in his vocals. They are tight, fast, heavy and talented! This particular EP has been out for some time now (2006) but serves as an excellent introduction. The layout itself has all the goods; band pic, lyrics, contact info and thanks. Just goes to show how easy it is to achieve a decent EP. All the tracks are engineered well too so I urge you all to go out and get yourself a copy.
DARKER HALF – This starts off with a fresh guitar sound that makes you stop and think, ‘yep, this is gonna be good!’ It’s got that beautiful heavy sound that then pumps straight into the power vocals that bring you back to the days of Judas Priest, King Diamond, Manowar and others alike. This bloke can really hold his notes and they’re at a listenable level too. Some bands really make you cringe, but these guys get my thumbs up! The whole song works well, incorporating all the changes in all the right places. It keeps you interested and more to the point, it keeps your head banging!
"Tried to scream, Can't find my voice, Been denied of every choice, Why is it that they can't see, The misery they're causing me..."
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – The lighter intro on this track is quite deceiving as it becomes quite the Judas power driven vocal onslaught! It is however, a lighter track musically. It’s got some interesting changes and a rather odd rhythm guitar throughout it and I mean odd in the sense that it doesn’t seem to blend too well with the rest of the music. Rhythmically it works but sound wise it’s just not quite blending. There is a mean lead in here toward the end which is always a bonus! And I will also note the drumming which is pretty damn good throughout this EP.
"Keep on believing you're living your life your own way, Their influence just grows every day, All that you hear you will instantly trust, What we're shown as diamonds turns out to be rust..."
HELPLESS – Starting off with good rhythm, you’re confronted with some unexpected death vocals. Shortly after, we are again given those power vocals. It possesses a good little lead, then slowly merges toward some clean vocals. Though not too much longer into it, we are again given those power vocals. So as you can see, throughout this track we are given many vocal changes and they really do blend well. Again, it keeps you interested and unable to phase out.
"I see the faces, Staring up imploring to me, I feel their anger, As they pull me back down to my knees, I want to save you, But you won't even let me try, I feel your apathy, But why the fuck won't you try..."
HOLOCAUST – This one is perhaps my favourite because it is the heaviest. It’s all Death done in the combined style of perhaps Darkthrone meets Carcass. Very old school sounding so it makes me a tad nostalgic! Dark, muddy, death! Ah.. I love it!
"Senseless violence, Breaks the silence, Thousands slaughtered, More were tortured, Deadly chamber no escaping, Careless for the lives they're taking..."
