Review:
I will start this review with a note of praise. When I ask a band to forward me a promo pack, I get some interesting items. This particular one has definitely surpassed any other one I’ve received. It is immaculate!
Within its video style case was enclosed their CD, another CD with music videos, a business card and a detailed bio. Fucking amazing! Truly.. Sometimes I just get a CD in the mail without even a cover and am lucky it isn’t scratched to shit! So total ‘respect’ for the presentation Dred!
In the bio it explains how the members are perfectionists with their music and I am telling you now, you can seriously hear that in this album. It is brilliant!
Absent From Entity - Killer riffs to start, so I’m all ready impressed. Slowing it down for a moment as the vocals appear; deathly, grinding. Then it’s back to the riffs and sinister speed. Just the kind of thing you’d want to hear live… just brutal! The drums are sweet as; fast, timely and mean. And those guitar riffs are amazing! Just rips it to shreds! Horns up for this one!
Animal Man Machine – Again, very metal, very dark, very fast and very fukn cool! To be more informative, I can’t make out the lyrics too well and none are available here, which I would prefer were printed somewhere here, but they’re not. So in this respect it is lacking some info and true music collector goodies. Which is a shame, but the music itself is awesome and definitely worth the listen. Also note I have seen them live and they play just as good so check them out if you can.
Sea To Summit – Such sweet speed metal graces the ears and gets you moving. If you were like morbidly obese and trapped on a bed where you think you could never move again, well this shit will surely get you up and moving! Haha.. Seriously, it’s fukn brutal! I love the guitars and accompanying drums which never seem to cease. It’s rather like the guitars are doing all the singing and you can totally understand what they’re saying where-as the vocals are more like the bass line or something. It is truly inspiring! It is the total metal experience.
Edifice Of Tyranny – The vocals are deep, dark and sombre and rather eloquent really. It’s almost Immolation / Disincarnate style vocals. On that note, in general I think perhaps this vocal type is a little overdone and not so alluring or listenable. Perhaps a little more diversity within them wouldn’t go astray?! Though it is up to the individual listener as to how they will react to them. But I am more intrigued by the amazing guitar work and tireless drumming. Even the bass in this one stands out and is absolutely killer! Just brilliant!
Browsing through the videos I find myself even more intrigued. I am in total awe of Dred’s masterful guitar work. And the drum kicks are brilliant! So yes I have seen them live before, though I don’t know if I paid as much attention as I should have. Too much alcohol I guess.. haha.. but this album and the videos really have inspired me to take a closer look and give them my full attention at the next gig. So if you haven't all ready heard this Sydney death metal band, then you are missing out on some serious metal. Support the local metal readers! Good work guys!
