Tattoos and the Aging Process

June 1st 2008 14:30
Tattoos

We've all seen the advert on TV where the old lady is all well dressed and looking her age; elegant and respectable.

Yet under her sleeve is a mean looking tattoo!

It's an awesome advert because it makes you think.

And it got me thinking...

Who out there is over 50 and has tattoos?

And what do they look like now as opposed to before?

I want you to send me two photos of your tattoo;

One from when you originally got it and one of how it looks today.

I will then post them on here and show others the realities of tattoos and the aging process.

I would also love for you to add your opinions on tattoos;

What you thought about them then, and what you think about them now?

So send your pictures in a jpg format along to: MysticDea@gmail.com

No larger than 500kb per picture.

There are so many amazing tattoos out there and some really do look sexy as, but are they still as sexy all those years later?

Do those flattering lower back tats look anything like desirable these days?

Has the colour faded?

Is it the same shape and design or is it way out of whack?!

Share your story and your pictures and I may even have a little something for the most amazing story!

I'm no where near 50 yet, but I have seen many a tattoo on older people, usually men, but ocassionally women. I've seen some that withstand the times, but others where you can barely tell what they are, and others that are still recognizeable but need a slight touchup. I think that depending on the quality of the initial tattoo, determines the longevitity of the tattoo. Example being my dad's tattoos- one is at least 12 years old and the other about 7 or so. Both are still perfect quality and the colors very vivid. Whereas my boyfriend's mom's tattoo is very faded and still recognizeable yet fading rapidly, and it's about the same age as my dad's first tat.
